How to Put Together a Cleaning Caddy
If you’re like most people, cleaning isn’t really all that fun – and while we can’t make it a blast to mop the floor and dust the blinds (unless you’re cleaning with kids), we can give you a few pointers to make it easier.
Or, even better, we can clean your house from top to bottom for you.
Aside from hiring a professional maid service, you can put together a well-stocked cleaning caddy that keeps you prepared for work in every room of the house.
How to Put Together a Cleaning Caddy
First things first: You need a roomy cleaning caddy that holds all your supplies. If you’re in a pinch, a plastic laundry basket will do just fine – but if you want to go all-out, invest in a caddy with a top handle that’s built for spray bottles and cleaning accessories.
What to Put in Your Cleaning Caddy
You’ll need several supplies for your cleaning caddy, just like the pros use, including:
- Baking soda
- Cleaning products
- Cotton cleaning rags
- Dobie™ pads
- Microfiber cloths
- Scrub brush
- Toilet brush
- Toothbrush
Baking Soda
Baking soda is good for sinks, toilets, showers and plenty of other applications – it can easily scrub away grime when you make it into a paste, and it’s eco-friendly, too.
Pro tip: Put your baking soda in a plastic container so its original box doesn’t get mushy.
Cleaning Products
Disinfectant, grease-busters and window cleaners are popular picks (we stick to pet- and kid-friendly cleaning supplies when we clean, but that is entirely a matter of personal preference and your own needs – use whatever works best for you).
Cotton Cleaning Rags
Perfect for wiping down counters and soaking up splashed water or cleaning products, as well as cleaning other surfaces, cotton cleaning rags are a must-have in your cleaning caddy.
Dobie Pads
Dobie pads are sponges covered in plastic mesh. They’re safe to use on countertops and ceramic sinks, as well as stoves and other surfaces, but they’re tough enough to scrub away grime, too.
Microfiber Cloths
Microfiber cloths are perfect for putting a finished polish on fixtures and for dusting fragile items.
Scrub Brush, Toilet Brush and Toothbrush
Lots of things around the house need a good scrub-down now and then, so having the right brushes in your caddy is essential.
Pro tip: You don’t have to carry a toilet brush from room to room if you stash one under each bathroom sink.
