7 Places Everyone Forgets to Clean
When you’re buzzing around your home doing routine clean-up, it’s easy to remember the counters, the stove, the toilets and everything else you see every day… but what areas are you forgetting?
7 Places Everyone Forgets to Clean
First things first: We know you’re too busy to clean everything (that’s why we’re here with super-easy house-cleaning tips you can use and a full-service maid business you can trust). But if you’re trying to do it all yourself, keep these forgotten places in mind next time you do an all-over clean in your home.
#1: Door Handles
Door handles see a lot of action in a day, especially in bathrooms. Give them a good wipe-down next time you’re thinking about it to eradicate the millions of germs that could be crawling all over them.
#2: Vacuum Filters
You can wash your vacuum filter to get out small particulates, dust and dirt. It’s not something you have to do often, but next time you’re on vacuum duty, pull that bad boy out when you’re done and scrub it with dish soap and warm water. Let it dry all the way before you put it back in.
#3: Garbage Cans
The inside of your trash can might be harboring a lot of bacteria, so it’s a good idea to clean it next time you take out the garbage. If there’s anything stuck in there, spray it with a garden hose; then, scrub it with your favorite household cleaner.
#4: Heat and A/C Vents
Run your duster over the vents often. Dust that builds up there can be pushed out into the air each time your heating or cooling unit runs, which means you’re breathing it all in.
#5: Your Computer Keyboard
Forget the dust and gunk that ends up between the keys. Your fingertips touch the keyboard every day, and they drop off (and pick up) germs each time. Wipe it down with a dampened cloth dipped in antibacterial cleaner next time you sit down to jot an email.
#6: Bath Mats
Run your bath mats through the washing machine every time you do a load of towels. They gather dirt and epithelials from your body, so they need some time in the laundry just like towels do.
#7: Your Humidifier
If you have a humidifier in your home, you need to know that it can be a breeding ground for bacteria. Wash it out at least once a month when you’re using it frequently; if you’re using it rarely, clean it after every use.
